Never To Return: Chapter 4

I finally managed to get Pheonix potty trained. It took me awhile, but at least he’s mastered the skill.



As Pheonix played his xylophone, Theo and I cuddled up on the couch and watched him through an open window. I loved moments like these. Pheonix is now two years old, and we’ve been a very happy little family for the past year now.



Another thing I enjoyed, was the little chats Pheonix and I would have on a daily basis, but my happiness and enjoyment was bound to be brought to a halt.



I went to the grocery store that day, and when I got there, I couldn’t believe what I saw on the door of the store. It was a wanted poster, of me! Thank God no one noticed it was me, I quickly snatched the paper off the door, and went home.



Once the taxi dropped me off, at the end of our driveway, I ran like mad, inside, where Theo was watching Pheonix. “Babe, we have a problem…they’re gonna find me for sure now. What are we gonna do, I’ll never see Pheonix again?", I frantically spat out! “Ok, calm down baby, and tell me what you’re talking about”, Theo said.



“This, it was on the door at the grocery store. This is what I would look like now, if I still had my hair like this and if I still dressed like a girl”, I explained to Theo. “I never knew his name, but they’re saying I murdered Harvey Russell, the man who raped and beat me, three years ago. They found one of my earrings where I burned his body, and found some remains of his that didn’t quite burn. I thought I lost it while running, how could’ve I known that it was right there the entire time?”, I continued. "Oh, what am I gonna do Theo?”, I continued to panic.



Theo grabbed my hands and pulled me close. “Baby, calm down, everything will be ok. They haven’t caught on yet, and I’ll do everything in my power to keep you and Pheonix safe, I promise", he said, giving me a peck on the lips. “You know, this is only one reason why I love you so much. You always manage to make me feel better”, I told him.



Theo moved the dollhouse into the master bedroom so that I could watch Pheonix, and drew me a bubble bath, before going to the park, to play for tips. That was his way of providing for the family, and he did an awesome job at it. As I soaked in the tub, watching Pheonix play, I thought of how happy Theo and Pheonix made me. I couldn’t ask for a better family, and I thank God everyday for the family he gave me. He took a horrible experience and used it to bless with me with something I’ve always dreamed of, a family.



That next evening I tended my garden, then I went to play with Pheonix, when I noticed a woman far off, and she had a camera, taking photos. Who was she?
