Never To Return: Chapter 2

It was my 16th birthday and the housemother at the orphanage had allowed me a day out. It was a beautiful day in Riverview, until that fateful moment….

My name’s Mikayla Westmore….I was sitting under a tree, listening to beautiful sounds of God’s creatures, when a man came out of nowhere and attacked me. He had muscles the size of large watermelons, making him too strong for me to push off me. I screamed for help, and he hit me, swearing that he’d kill me if I didn’t shut up. All I could do was pray that he wouldn’t kill me.



When he was done, he pulled me up and started to hit me again. “No, please don’t hurt me anymore!!!”, I screamed, throwing my hands up in front of my face. I prayed for the strength to stop him from killing me…



I only pushed him to keep him from hitting me, and taking advantage of me again. I didn’t mean to kill him. When he fell, he hit his head on a large rock, and blood splattered all over his face.



I panicked and the only thing I knew to do was hide what I had done. I dragged him further past the trees, out of sight, and gathered plenty of wood, then I burned the body of the man who had raped and beat me. I knew I had to run away, run away fast, never to return.
